How do I choose the perfect charter yacht for me and my guests?

We will help you choose the perfect yacht. We will present you with a portfolio of charter yachts based on your wishes and requirements. In particular, the area, the number of passengers, your budget, the desired service and the yacht equipment play a role in choosing the perfect charter yacht.

Choosing the perfect yacht

Do the start and end ports of the cruise always have to be the same?

To allow you to travel flexibly, the start and destination ports can vary. So travel with your luxury yacht from island to island or from country to country and enjoy different impressions. Please note, however, that yacht transfer costs may be incurred.

How does the booking process work?

As soon as you have decided on an arrangement, we will draw up the charter contract for you. You will first receive the contract for you to view and sign. Once this has been countersigned by the owner and trustee, you will receive the contract back for confirmation. You then pay the deposit.

What does the charter contract say?

We draw on the templates of the Mediterranean Yacht Brokers Association (MYBA) and the American Yacht Charter Association (AYCA) when drawing up contracts. This enables us to create a balanced contractual basis for all parties involved. This includes you as the client, we as your agency and the owner and trustee/manager of the yacht. We prefer to use the MYBA contract, which has proven itself over many years. The AYCA contract is used for yachts under the American flag. Your charter contract lists the details of the contracting parties and also includes yacht and voyage details as well as a cost breakdown.

What payment terms apply within the framework of the charter contract?

First of all, you will be required to pay a deposit of 50 percent of the net charter fee. This is due by bank transfer when the charter contract is signed. Our reminder will remind you to pay the remaining 50 percent usually four weeks before the start of the charter together with all other contractually agreed costs.

What are the total costs of the charter?

The costs are specified in the charter contract. The costs are usually made up as follows:

  • Charter price plus local VAT
  • Advanced Provisioning Allowance (APA) as an upfront lump sum for ancillary costs
  • Transfer costs for the yacht, if applicable

What is included in the charter price and what is not?

The charter price usually includes the yacht with the specified equipment, personnel costs for the crew and the insurance required to operate the yacht. Not included are the transfer costs of the yacht (if necessary) and the operating costs of the yacht. These include fuel, catering, harbor fees and ad hoc incidental costs incurred during the charter. An APA is applied to cover these costs. Depending on the type of yacht, this amounts to around 25-35 percent of the charter price. The APA is due no later than four weeks before the start of the charter.

What is the APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance) and how is it billed?

The APA, or more precisely Advance Provisioning Allowance, is a lump sum for incidental costs. Before and during your yacht vacation, your captain manages the amount that is used to cover catering, port and operating costs. The operating costs primarily include fuel costs. The APA is approximately 25-35 percent of the charter price and is usually due four weeks before the start of the charter. This ensures that you are welcomed on board with the best possible service. You can request an up-to-date summary of the costs at any time during your trip. At the end of the charter, you will receive a final statement with all receipts. Any remaining credit will of course be refunded to you. If the additional costs during the charter exceed the APA, the captain will ask you directly - or via your agency - to make an additional payment.

What travel documents do I and my guests need on board?

Every passenger on board a yacht must have their passport with them. Make sure that you and your guests have valid identification documents with you before the charter. This will make embarkation in the various countries uncomplicated. Depending on the country of origin, visa regulations and other entry requirements or restrictions must also be observed.

How does the journey to the starting port work?

As the arrival is usually very individual in terms of the dates and type of arrival, this is usually booked directly by the guests. We are happy to organize the transfer from the airport or your hotel to the yacht for you.

Which insurance policies are necessary and/or recommended?

We advise you to take out travel cancellation and trip curtailment insurance. This will keep you on the safe side in the event of unforeseen circumstances. We also recommend that all guests on board have personal accident and health insurance. Charterer's liability insurance and theft insurance can also be useful. We will be happy to advise you personally in this matter.

Who will be my contact person on site?

As your agency, we are at your side before, during and after the charter. On board, we also recommend direct communication with your captain. This way you will receive quick and easy answers to your questions.

Are pets allowed on board?

A yacht is not a species-appropriate place for animals. With a pet sitter, your pet will certainly be fine at home or in the pet hotel while you relax on board the charter yacht.

Is a yacht vacation also possible with children and is there childcare on board?

Children are welcome guests on most yachts. However, please bear in mind that the crew cannot take responsibility for the supervision of young guests on board. Depending on the age of the children, additional childcare on board is recommended. This way, your children are well entertained and the crew can concentrate fully on your well-being.

How and when are preferences and special requirements coordinated?

Before you start your yacht vacation, you will receive the "Preference Sheet" from us. In this form you enter the necessary contact details, which guests may accompany you on board and your personal preferences. This ensures that every detail meets your expectations as soon as you arrive. Please complete the preference sheet in as much detail as possible. With this individual information, the service team on board your luxury yacht will arrange the time-out you desire.

Is satellite TV available on board?

Due to varying signal strengths worldwide, it cannot be guaranteed that you will be able to receive satellite TV on board. If satellite TV is important to you during your charter, please contact us in advance so that we can make arrangements.

Is Internet available on board?

Most yachts have standard wireless access. This service may be limited in certain areas and therefore cannot be guaranteed. If you expect to use the internet regularly or require large bandwidths during your charter, please inform us prior to departure.

Is smoking permitted on board?

Each yacht has its own guidelines for smoking on board. For your own safety, smoking is strictly prohibited in the cabins of your charter yacht. Some yachts have separate smoking areas on deck. To be on the safe side, please check whether the regulations meet your requirements before you set off.

How do I check in?

Your arrival is organized and coordinated in advance and the crew will be waiting for you and your guests on board. Should there be any delays (due to delays, flight changes, etc.), please let us know by telephone. This gives us the opportunity to coordinate the crew and, if necessary, the transfer accordingly. On board, we recommend that you exchange contact details with the captain so that you have contact with the yacht at all times, for example during shore leave.

How is the accessibility on board?

All yachts are equipped with various means of communication so that you can be reached at any time during your cruise. Please give someone at home our contact information so that we can contact them in an emergency.

Are tips for the crew customary - and to what extent?

On board a yacht, it is customary for top service and an attentive crew to be rewarded with a corresponding tip. Tips for the crew usually amount to around 5 to 10 percent of the charter fee - but can be adjusted depending on your level of satisfaction. We recommend that you leave the distribution of tips to the captain. From engineers to kitchen staff, this way you can ensure that all crew members receive equal recognition. The entire crew will do their best to provide you with a unique charter experience.

Are there any additional harbor and mooring fees during the cruise?

Yes, depending on the destination, you may have to pay port or mooring fees, which are payable per night. We will be happy to estimate these costs when the route is planned.

Is it possible to stay overnight on the high seas?

Depending on the yachting area, weather, sea conditions and official regulations, it is possible to anchor at night. This can be a great experience - and also saves mooring costs. Let us know your wishes in this regard when planning your route - we will be happy to discuss the possibilities with the captain. In some cases this will be necessary anyway, as not all harbors are designed for larger yachts.

Imagine ending a successful day in a quiet bay with a view of the water and a delicious glass of red wine. In the morning, enjoy the breathtaking sunrise on the flybridge: you can experience all of this on board our luxury yachts.

Will the crew take care of the personal laundry?

On many yachts it is possible to have your personal laundry cleaned by the crew. Please note that the capacities and possibilities on board are limited. This means that the crew will not be able to clean excessive quantities or delicate items. Professional cleaning ashore is an option if time permits. Please speak to your captain about this. Any costs incurred will be charged to the APA.

What should I bear in mind when equipping the yacht?

The listed equipment and fittings of the yacht are provided by us to the best of our knowledge and in accordance with the owner's specifications. Should there be any changes before your charter, the owner of the yacht will make every effort to replace the equipment in a comparable manner. Personal watercraft (jet skis, waverunners, seabobs, etc.) may be restricted in certain cruising areas. Guests also require an appropriate driving license.

Please enquire whether there are any guidelines or special requirements in the respective yachting areas.

How do I get involved in restaurant recommendations and reservations?

We are happy to take your wishes into account in advance when planning your cruise. Please let us know if you would like to visit any special locations. In addition to restaurants and beach clubs, it may also be necessary to book nightclubs and discotheques in advance. In addition, the crew usually has extensive knowledge and contacts in the respective areas. They will give you recommendations and make reservations.

What happens if I get seasick?

Inform the crew in advance if you know that you are susceptible to this. The crew will give you valuable tips to help you avoid seasickness. On request, the team on board will have appropriate tablets ready for you.

How do I check out?

The check-out date and time are specified in the charter contract. Please coordinate the exact departure time with your captain in advance so that he can organize the check-out and, if necessary, the transfer smoothly. Please allow plenty of time for check-out so that you have enough time to settle the additional costs and say goodbye to the crew.

Who do I contact after my yacht vacation if I have forgotten something on board?

If you have forgotten something on board, please contact us. We will make sure that your items are sent to you or deposited.
